12 August 2010 BlackBerry ban is final says UAE TRA

Suspension of BlackBerry service is final decision says TRA head
The UAE's ban of BlackBerry services will be "final", according to the country's Telecommunications Regulatory Authority.
In a statement issued to news agency WAM, Mohammed Al Ghanem, director general of the TRA, stated: "The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority's (TRA) decision to suspend certain Blackberry services from October 11th is final."
Al Ghanem added that the TRA was still open to talks with BlackBerry maker RIM, saying "we remain open to discussions in order that an acceptable, regulatory-compliant solution might be developed and applied."
In a press conference yesterday to discuss its replacement to the BlackBerry service, UAE telco du said that the offers could be withdrawn if a deal was reached with RIM, but would not speculate on whether an agreement was likely.
